The Best of Oligo

In-Salon Practical Session

OL_3ColumnImage.jpg

welcome to the family

Thank you for confirming The BEST of Oligo session in your salon.

We want everything to be perfect for you and your team! Please help our education team prepare for your in-salon session by answering the questions below and reading all the info!

We request that you submit images of the models and your goals 2 weeks before the session. This allows us to ensure that you receive the necessary products.

  • Ensure the salon is aware of the best practices recommended by OLIGO PROFESSIONAL regarding the use of every item within your Starter Kit. To achieve this, we utilise the following session plan:

    • All stylists would have completed the full selection of OLIGO 360, including Calura Permanent, Calura Gloss & Blacklight modules at www.oligopro.co.uk

    • An Educator will visit your salon for 3 hours, this session will be a mix of practical and theory.

    • Your educator will arrive 20 minutes before the start of the session to allow time to prepare all the necessary equipment.

    • The session starts with a brief introduction to both your educator and the OLIGO PRO Brand.

  • We know that as stylists, the excitement of getting hands-on with colour can be hard to resist! However, this session will begin with a 1-hour theory session, where we’ll deep-dive into the exceptional range of products we’ll be using during the day.

This is your opportunity to understand the “why” behind the “what”, how these products are designed, what sets them apart, and how they can help you achieve outstanding results in your colour work.

    We ask that you:

    • Embrace stepping out of your comfort zone

    • Engage with your technical advisor, ask questions, seek advice, and use their knowledge to expand your own

By investing in this hour, you’ll be better equipped to make the most out of the practical session that follows.

  • We ask that you provide 2 models for this session, so that you can put the theory to the test! These models can either be members of the team or clients.

    Model Arrival:

    • Please arrange for your models to arrive 1 hour into your session.

    • The practical will begin after the theory is completed, so we recommend that your models do not arrive too early to avoid unnecessary waiting.

    Model Requirements:

    • Your models must be open-minded regarding their colour service. This doesn't mean dramatic changes, but they must be open to changes to their existing formula in order to showcase the best possible results using new products.

    Product Categories:

Please select 2 product categories that you'd like to see in action.
(Selection to be made via the form at the top of this page.)

    During the Practical Session:

    1. Consultation
Your team will perform a full consultation with your model.
The educator will provide support, product knowledge, and guidance on colour choices, but your team will lead this process to ensure hands-on learning and ownership.

    2. Mixing and Application
Colours will be selected from the demo kit provided by Hair Brands, and your team will mix and apply the chosen formulas.

    3. Development & Discussion
While the colours are being processed, we will:

      • Talk through Oligo’s key benefits

      • Break down the colour choices made

      • Answer any questions you may have

    4. Rinse and After Colour Program
Once the colour has developed, your team will remove the colour using the After Colour Program, which is also included in the kit.

    5. Dry and Review
Your team will blow-dry the hair and evaluate the results together.

    End of Session:

At the end of the session:

    • The educator will repack and lock the demo kit

    • A suitable location will be agreed for the kit to be stored safely for collection the following day

  • To ensure the success of this professional colour showcase, all models must meet the following criteria:

    1. Openness to Colour Changes:
Models must be open-minded about adjustments to their existing hair colour formula. While this doesn’t mean a dramatic transformation, some changes may be made to best showcase results using new products. These will be discussed and agreed upon with the Technical Advisor prior to application.

    2. Purpose of the Session:
Models must understand this is a showcase session, not a standard salon appointment. The focus is on demonstrating colour results.

    3. Skin Testing:
All models must have undergone a skin test in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions prior to the session. This is mandatory for safety and compliance.

    4. Timeframe:
The colour service must be able to be fully completed within 2 hours.

    5. Hair Condition & History:
Unfortunately, we cannot accept models who have:

      • Previously used box dye

      • Used henna on their hair

      • Require colour correction  - Hair color correction refers to the process of fixing unwanted results from previous hair coloring, such as correcting an uneven or undesirable shade, like brassiness, or addressing color that is too light or too dark. This includes but not limited too banding, uneven starting canvas, taking the hair more than 2 shades darker and any other prior damage to the hair that will effect the end result.

If our educators believe that the service would not achieve the desired results, would not be completed in the allocated time or cause unnecessary damage to the clients’ hair, we would explain this to either the salon owner or manager and explain that we would not continue and outline our reasons. Although this scenario is extremely unlikely, we feel it is our responsibility to ensure that we work to maintain the high standards and reputation of the salon, and as such could not in good faith advise delivering the service.

  • Q. What type of colour work can we do?
    A. Whilst it may seem more fun or perhaps more beneficial to work on colour correction during this session, we do not allow this as it would exceed the session duration and not benefit the salon as a whole.

    Q. What is colour correction?

    A. Hair colour correction refers to the process of fixing unwanted results from previous hair colouring, such as correcting an uneven or undesirable shade, like brassiness, or addressing colour that is too light or too dark. It is a corrective service that uses techniques like toning, bleaching, or re-colouring to achieve the client's desired look.

    What it includes

    • Correcting unwanted tones: This is often done with a toner to neutralise unwanted hues, such as using a purple toner to fix yellow brassiness in blonde hair or a blue toner for orange tones in brunette hair.

    • Adjusting colour depth: This can involve lightening hair that was dyed too dark or adding pigment to darken hair that was dyed too light.

    • Fixing uneven colour: This includes correcting issues like "banding," which occurs from overlapping hair dye applications, or patchy colour that can result from variations in hair porosity.

    • Changing drastic colours: It can be used to change bright or creative colours back to a more natural shade or to correct a drastic change from a previous service.

    Q. How do I pick my model?

    A. To ensure the success of this professional colour showcase, all models must meet the following criteria:

      • Require colour correction  - Hair colour correction refers to the process of fixing unwanted results from previous hair colouring, such as correcting an uneven or undesirable shade, like brassiness, or addressing colour that is too light or too dark. This includes but not limited too banding, uneven starting canvas, taking the hair more than 2 shades darker and any other prior damage to the hair that will effect the end result.

    Q. Who is responsible for the models’ health and safety concerns?
    A. Our educators are there to guide you and your team in the best use of OLIGO products; however, the responsibility for the models’ welfare and hair colour results remains with the salons.

    Q. Is there a scenario when we shouldn’t deliver a colour service?

    Q. Do we need to skin test?
    A. Yes, you will need to skin test your model following the manufacturer's instructions. If a skin test has not been conducted, the model will not be able to have their hair coloured.

    Q. Can the salon be open for business during this session?
    A. We require that you close the salon to customers for the duration of this session. This is because we want to create an environment where we can talk freely about all aspects of colour, which may include content that you may not want to share with customers.

Q: What if my model changes before the session?
A: If your model changes prior to the session, we still require that all model criteria are met and that a skin test is completed in advance, as per the manufacturer's instructions. If this is not possible, we will consult with the new model and the stylist to explore alternative colour options. Please note that in this case, the colour service will need to be rescheduled separately as a salon appointment, as it won’t be feasible to complete it during the session.

  • If you need to cancel your session, please keep in mind that unexpected situations can arise. We would prefer not to enforce a cancellation policy, but as stylists know, your time is reserved for each client. For our events, we have exceptional educators lined up and products prepared for you. Cancellations made more than 14 days in advance, as well as those cancelled between 14 and 7 days prior to the session, will not incur any fees. However, if you cancel less than 7 days before the start time of the course, a cancellation fee will apply. The cancellation fee is calculated on a case-by-case basis. This fee is determined by various factors, including transportation costs, travel, and accommodation expenses for the educator.

We ask you to pick 3 product categories that you would like to see in action.
